"He allowed himself to be swayed by his conviction that human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but that life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves."
Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Love in the Time of Cholera

I'm a Miami, Florida based photographer (with strong ties to NYC and visit there once or twice a year) who, though always a landscape and architecture photographer has recently become more focused (pardon the pun) upon model photography and portfolio building.

For some reason, I'm particularly drawn to abandoned places and those in disrepair or neglect and love the contrast of the beautiful model against the dilapidated structure or natural location. Natural light preferred.

Feel free to contact me with interest, rates or information and view my site: [link]

I've been here awhile, it's true, but always sat silently, content with sharing my photography but, for some reason, today, I feel like writing.

Not sure anyone will actually read this, but here are the words nonetheless:

"He allowed himself to be swayed by his conviction that human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but that life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves."

No, they're not my words.

They're actually those of my favorite author: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, from Love in the Time of Cholera.

Haven't read it? Do!
Have? I hope you loved it too.

Some may say it's a love story, and I may agree.

Some may have seen the film - it was a pile of garbage unworthy of the story it bastardized. I sincerely hope that GGM made a LOT of money from it though because I shut it off about 30 minutes into the atrocity and lost quite a lot of respect for John Leguizamo in the process.

But I digress... I posted the quote not to impress or inspire but because I believe it. I know so many people who tell me that they cannot do something because they don't know how or have never attempted some desire because of fear of failure and, to them, I say TRY!

Sure, we all make mistakes. I know I have. I've made some doozies, and hurt people's feelings - though NEVER intentionally - but that's life. I ask for forgiveness and try to forgive those who have hurt me - for there is that too. Every day, we have the power to recreate ourselves anew. We are not the sum of our parent's actions, though, again, that is part of us. We are who we want to be and not who we have always been. The real shame is to get so caught up in remembering the past that we forget the present.

Today I go to sleep and dream about the day ahead and hope I get it right this time.
